Yuma County wants to buy downtown building

YUMA, AZ (AP) -

Yuma County wants to buy a historic building to expand its hub in downtown Yuma and relieve crowding at other county offices.

County Administrator Robert Pickels told the Yuma Sun that the county hadn't had any luck in the past finding a building because property was so limited and even considered constructing a new building.

The 50,000-square foot building is directly across from the county's administrative headquarters and has been vacant for a couple of years.

The building would need extensive remodeling.

The project's cost estimates includes $750,000 for the property itself and $4.6 million for remodeling.
