EL MIRAGE, AZ (CBS5) -

A man walked into the Phoenix Police Station Saturday night and confessed to killing his girlfriend in El Mirage, officers said.

Philbert July, 53, was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail on one count of second-degree murder. He could face additional charges, police said.

Phoenix police called El Mirage officers, who rushed to the 11900 block of West Bloomfield Road, where they found a woman's body, said El Mirage police Detective Kim Walden.

During a police interview, July told detectives that he and his girlfriend had been drinking and got into an argument that led to the woman's death.

The cause of death won't be released until an autopsy is completed.
