MEMPHIS, TN -

(WMC-TV) - A third Memphis musician heated up the stage on "The Voice" Tuesday night.

Patrick Dodd has made his career performing on Beale Street, where tourists ask for him by name. Now, he is earning himself a national following on the NBC hit reality talent show.

It was clear from the beginning of his performance Tuesday night that Patrick Dodd is the real deal.

Shakira turned her chair around first... followed by Adam Levine.

Dodd's family was backstage jumping up and down as his deep, soulful voice touched "The Voice" fans across the country.

"I've never really been into the competition thing, you know? I just didn't feel that was my deal, but I was referred. I went and tried out and here I am," said Dodd on "The Voice".

He is usually on Beale Street performing in all the venues with his band the Patrick Dodd Trio. You can even buy his CDs there.

"He can fill a room. It could be a dead street and he would fill the room," said Felicia Kirkland, Rum Boogie general manager. "They (tourists) love him, they are always up here asking for him. Asking when he's coming back. When they can see him."

For now, Dodd's old Beale Street haunts are forced to watch him on television. Several are holding watch parties in hopes that their favorite entertainer will make it all the way.

The next time you will see Patrick Dodd and the other two Memphis contestants on "The Voice" is during the head to head competitions in a couple of weeks.
