Bridgestone unveils first production tire from Aiken County plant expansion

Posted: Updated:

Today the Bridgestone plant in Aiken County is celebrating a milestone. Company officials and community leaders are celebrating production of the first passenger car radial tires (PSR) and light truck radial tires (LTR) after the $300 million expansion.

Bridgestone executives and influential state and community leaders are giving an update on the progress of Bridgestone's expansion of the PSR/LTR plant, which to date has generated more than 300 jobs and is expected to produce more than 12,750 additional PSR/LTR tires per day. Attendees will view the production and signing of the first set of PSR/LTR tires, as well as a tire curing demonstration.

This is the second phase of a three-part expansion for Bridgestone in Aiken County. The third expansion of this facility is underway. In 2015, off-road radial tires (ORR) will launch into production. When fully completed more than 850 new jobs will be created in the county.
