UPDATE: One dead after pedestrians struck

UPDATE: 29 year old Lukisha Nicole Thomas died after being struck by a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee around 2 p.m. on Saturday on the 800 block of York Street. According to investigators, her two year old son and Ray Charles Wooden Jr. were also hit.

The victims were transported to Georgia Regents University Medical Center where Lukisha Thomas died while in surgery, according to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.

Wooden also went into surgery on Saturday and his condition is still unknown at this time. The two year old was evaluated and has been released from the hospital.

Thomas' autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

Aiken County Coroner's Office and the Aiken Department of Public Safety are investigating.

ORIGINAL STORY: Two people were taken to the hospital after a collision on York Street in Aiken County.

Aiken Public Safety is investigating the collision involving a Jeep Grand Cherokee and the two pedestrians. Investigators say the crash happened just after 2 p.m. near the intersection of Eastern Place. Public Safety's Accident Reconstruction Team was assisted by the South Carolina Highway Patrol when responding to the call.

The two pedestrians were rushed to Georgia Regents Medical center for advanced medical treatment.
