CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Several Cincinnati City Council members signed a motion on Friday to prevent discrimination from city-funded parades.

The motion would require all parade leaders receiving money from the city to agree in writing they will not discriminate.

The move comes after the Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN), an anti-bullying organization that works with schools to prevent bullying, was told by the St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee they could not participate in last Sunday's parade.

GSLEN called the ban discrimination, while the parade committee offered in a statement, "The Gay Lesbian Straight Educational Network participated in last year's Parade, but did not abide by the Parade's requirements".

Many local city leaders publicly announced their support of GLSEN in response and boycotted the parade.
