Phenix City man dies when yard work turns deadly

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) -

An East Alabama family is mourning the death of a loved one after yard work went array.

Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. confirmed William Wilson of Phenix City died while "clearing land" at his home on 12th Avenue Wednesday morning.

Wilson was reportedly driving a tractor when it "fell off an embankment into a creek," Sumbry said.

Sumbry pronounced Wilson dead shortly before 11 a.m. He reportedly died of blunt force trauma. Phenix City police are not investigating the incident for foul play. 

William Wilson was 55 years old.
