County leaders discuss regional projects to community leaders

Posted: Updated:

Three county leaders met to discuss area projects developing in the CSRA. Wednesday afternoon Leadership Augusta, a program for community members to network and develop the area, hosted their annual State of the Region Address.

Augusta Mayor Deke Copenhaver, Columbia County Commissioner Ron Cross and North Augusta Mayor Lark Jones each discussed the growth within their counties. Mayor Copenhaver talked about Augusta bringing jobs back into Augusta mentioning Starbucks. Ron Cross shared the success the Lady Antebellum Theater has given Columbia County, and Mayor Lark Jones updated the group on the progress of Project Jackson.

"We really like to get our alumni engaged in what is going on and keep them up to date," said Angela Maskey, Chairman of Leadership Augusta Board of Directors. "So we invite the various leaders in Richmond County, Columbia County and North Augusta to talk about regionalism, and talk about how cooperation and collaboration is critical to our future success."

Leadership Augusta is a nine-month program helping community leaders network with other leaders in the region.
