SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

Saginaw fire crews responded to an overnight fire at 1115 Chestnut Street on the city's west side.

The fire started in the upstairs portion of the home at around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning. Two adults and one child were at home at the time of the blaze but they were able to make it out of the structure unharmed.

Two neighborhood children that lived next door spotted the fire and alerted the homeowners to get out of the house.

The area of the home is near Fordney Park, two blocks south of Gratiot Avenue.

The home is believed to have sustained significant damage and it is believed that most of the damage is to the second story of the home.

Investigators will be on the scene Wednesday morning to try to determine the cause of the blaze.

WNEM will continue to follow this story and provide new information as it comes into the newsroom.
