BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Every day hundreds of people walk through the doors of Walmart and they're all on a mission to get in and out. But when you walk in do you take a second to look at the decals on the door?

"I think it's a great idea you know because so many people, so many parents leave their kids to get something quick out the store but it reminds you of so many bad things that happen these days," said James Robertson.

Robertson said he never noticed the yellow sign on Walmart's doors until we told him.

The sign reads, "Look before you leave."

It reminds customers not to leave kids unattended in a car.

"It's kind of sad that it's gotten to this point but definitely it's a good reminder for the parents. We've got to look out for all our kids," Robertson said.

Shoppers can see the stickers on the retail giant's doors across America. They've been a reminder for about a month now.

Jim Anderson applauds the store for their recent actions.

"It makes me think that Walmart is really concerned about kids being lost," Anderson said.

But he adds it's unfortunate people may now need reminders about the safety of children.

"Very sad. It's definitely a sign that I think we need to be more concerned with our children."

And he's not the only one. Priscilla Perry is a parent of a toddler.

"I think it's good in a way that it does remind you not to leave your kid behind but in a way I think it's sort of sad time that you have to be reminded to keep with you at, you know be reminded to not lose your kid," said Perry.

A Walmart spokesperson did not say how long the signs will remain on the store doors.
