House hit by lightning catches fire

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

FOX54 has learned a house in Augusta caught fire after being struck by lightning.

The house is located on Golden Camp Road, close to Deans Bridge Road.

The homeowners were not in the house at the time of the fire.

Officials on the scene told FOX54 that crews began fighting the fire while strong storms were still rolling through the area.

They also said that the home only has some minor fire damage to the back of the house.
