Police in Montgomery County say a 9-year-old girl who was located unharmed after her family reported her missing early Monday morning likely left home on her own accord.
Family members discovered the child, Lenora Adriana Parchman, was missing around 5 a.m. from a home on Edmondson Ferry Road.
The child was located unharmed after she arrived at a neighbor's home about 6:30 a.m., wearing
wet socks and damp clothing. The neighbor, who said she didn't know the girl, cooked the child breakfast and attempted to determine where the girl lived before calling police.
Investigators said they spoke with the child later Monday, and they said she apparently left home on her own sometime before 5 a.m.
The child remains in custody of the Department of Children's Services as the police investigation continues, police said.
