BURKE COUNTY, GA (WFXG) -
UPDATE:
This morning a judge deferred
bond for Dexter Anderson, who's being charged with the murder of his live-in
girlfriend. What started out as a domestic dispute, turned into gunfire. She
was taken to the hospital where she later died.
Blood spots stain Anderson's Keysville
home where he is suspected of killing his girlfriend.
Burke County investigators say Anderson, 24, was in a frantic rage, cussing and
beating on the walls, when deputies were responding to a possible suicide.
Deputies say Charlotta Lockhart, 26, was sitting on the couch motionless with blood
around her head. Anderson was screaming about Burke County EMA taking too long
to get to the house. He punched his hand through a glass window. Deputies used
pepper spray to subdue him enough to get him hand cuffed.
"I just never
known for him to be that type of person," said Cierra Williams, who lives down the road from Anderson and Lockhart.
Cierra Williams lives just down
the road from Anderson. She says in high school he was quiet and shy; a
completely different description of the man accused of fatally shooting
Lockhart. Investigators say Lockhart was shot in the back of the head. She was
rushed to the hospital and died from that wound.
Anderson was also taken to the
hospital, where he told deputies he did not trust Lockhart, and earlier they
got into a fight and he hit her.
"When I used to
see them, they would always be laughing or talking," Williams said. "I mean, I never knew that
they had problems."
Anderson is being held in the Burke County Jail where he'll wait for his second
court appearance.
