SCOTTSDALE, AZ (CBS5) -

Scottsdale police were looking for a man they said stole a car at gunpoint in a grocery store parking lot Tuesday morning.

Police said the 70-year-old Oregon resident told them he had parked his car and was getting out when the man got in the passenger side, pointed a handgun at him and demanded the keys to his car.

He gave him the keys and ran into the Safeway store near Scottsdale Road and Shea Boulevard, according to a police report.

He told police he did not see the car leave the parking lot.

The man's car is a white 2002 Lexus RX 300 SUV with Oregon license plate YWJ343.

The suspect was described as in his 20s, medium build, brown hair and a scruffy beard and wearing a dark hoodie, jeans and light-colored hat.

Anyone with information about the car or the suspect is asked to call their local police department.
