House damaged by fire in Hermitage

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Emergency crews battled a house fire in Hermitage early Tuesday morning.

The fire quickly grew out of control right around 2:20 a.m. on Deerwood Road.

The homeowner told firefighters he accidentally lit the house on fire while he was trying to light the fireplace.

Fire officials said everyone inside the home escaped safely, and no one was hurt.

The Nashville Fire Marshal was called to the scene to investigate.
