WINTON PLACE, OH (FOX19) -

'There's no place like home' - This was the mantra for NFL player Greg Scruggs on Monday.

The Seattle Seahawks' defensive end returned to his old neighborhood in Winton Place to visit with students at Winton Hills Academy.

The athlete dedicated his success in part to 'Boys Hope Girls Hope', a residential program he once participated in. Scruggs is a graduate from St. Xavier High School and grew up in the Winton Terrace public housing project.

"Some people from the neighborhood wanted me to do the wrong things," said Scruggs.

He told students to stay in school, and if you work hard, anything can happen.

Winton Hills Academy designated Monday as 'Greg Scruggs Day'.
