One person dead in morning crash

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

One person is dead after a vehicle crash on the 2200 block of Morningside Drive. Investigators received the call Monday morning.

Only one vehicle was involved. Officials say the vehicle ran off of the road and hit a tree. A woman in the car was ejected and died on the scene. The driver was taken to  Georgia Regents Medical Center with serious burns and other injuries.

The crash is being investigated by the Richmond County Sheriff's Office STAR team.
