CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A local group is training for a triathlon and half marathon to push for a cure for Crohn's Disease.

The Southwest Ohio Chapter of the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation is getting ready for its fifth year participating in the Crohn's and Colitis Team Challenge.

The group met on Thursday evening in West Chester to meet potential participants for this year's event in Chicago.

The Team Challenge is an endurance event that raises money to help find new treatments and search for a cure for Crohn's Disease.

With half marathon and triathlon training programs, teams train extensively before the event.

Participants receive personalized fitness training by an experienced coach for 3 to 4 months prior to the event. Training clinics and helpful tips on topics like nutrition, hydration and injury prevention are also included.

After training, participants receive an all-expenses paid weekend in Chicago.

This year, the local team is training in honor of Ella Corbitt. Corbitt, a 5-year-old Miamisburg girl, has recently been diagnosed with Crohn's Disease.
