CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
A local mother was sentenced on Thursday after her daughter was caught stealing food from Wal-Mart because she was hungry.
Felicia Griffin pleaded guilty to one count of child endangering and was sentenced to three years in prison.
According to Hamilton County court records, Griffin's 14-year-old
daughter was at the Walmart on Colerain Avenue in August of last year when she was stopped by
store security for stealing food. When a sheriff's deputy arrived, he
noticed visible injuries to the girl's face and body. The girl told the
deputy that her mom beat her with a stick and a belt on a regular basis
and doesn't allow her to eat.
Griffin admitted to striking her daughter with a belt, but said her other injuries were self-inflicted.
