4 arrested Bama players no longer enrolled at UA

TUSCALOOSA, AL (WBRC) -

All four of the University of Alabama football players facing robbery-related charges are no longer enrolled in the school, according to a statement from UA.

University spokeswoman Deborah Lane issued this statement concerning UA students Tyler Hayes, Dennis Pettway, Eddie Williams and Brent Calloway:

"UA's judicial review has been completed. The four students involved in the robberies on campus are no longer enrolled in UA."

Coach Nick Saban said Wednesday that all four players were no longer associated with the football program.

"Based on all the information we've received and gone through in trying to determine the future of the four guys that got in trouble, those guys are no longer associated with the football program," Saban said in a release issued by the university.

"Their actions do not reflect the spirit and character that we want our organization to reflect. It's obviously very disappointing and unacceptable what happened...Some people learn by words, some people learn by consequences, some people can't learn," he added.

All four of the former football players were arrested by campus police earlier this month in connection to two robberies. They were suspended from the team and school indefinitely until the results of the judicial review came came in.

Hayes, Pettway and Williams were charged with two counts of second degree robbery each. Williams and Calloway were charged with fraudulent use of a debit card. Court documents show that Williams admitted to beating up two UA students, taking a book bag and debit cards. Hayes also admitted to the crimes.

Williams left Tuscaloosa nearly two weeks ago after school officials banned him, Pettway and Hayes from campus. Calloway was not originally banned from campus, but is now also unenrolled from the university. FOX6 News has also learned that Calloway was also charged with marijuana possession in 2011.

All four players have applied for youthful offender status, which means their records could be sealed. Calloway, Pettway and Williams have preliminary hearing set for March.

In addition to the loss of the four arrested players, Danny Woodson has been suspended through the spring and Marvin Shinn is electing not to participate in the offseason program and spring drills, the university said.

"Danny Woodson has been suspended for violation of team rules so he's not going to be participating," Saban said.

"Marvin Shinn has elected not to go through the offseason program. Therefore, he will not be going through spring practice or be part of the team. I'm assuming that he's going to decide to go someplace else, but I haven't heard that."

Spring practice for Alabama starts March 16 and drills conclude with A-Day, set for April 20.
