Girl Scouts donating cookies to troops overseas

Posted: Updated:
AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Local Girl Scout troops are helping give U.S. troops overseas a small taste of home.

Scouts are taking part in Operation Cookies from Home.

They are taking donations to send Girl Scout Cookies to overseas troops.

"Here, everyone can buy cookies. They can't come over and buy cookies," says Troop Leader Terica Davenport. "Imagine getting a package from home from a troop that is taking donations and took the time out to mail them to you."

Davenport says her troop has collected enough donations to send about 50 boxes of cookies overseas.

The Girl Scouts are continuing to sell cookies until March 10.
