AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -
It is day four of the investigation into
that deadly plane crash near the Thomson-McDuffie Regional Airport. FOX54 talked
to a neighbor who has been watching this tragedy unfold from his own backyard.
"It appears that as the days go by,
it's getting fewer and fewer vehicles," said Bill Reese.
While crews and investigators continue
to look over and collect evidence from the crash site, Bill Reese describes the
scene behind his house after Wednesday night's tragic plane crash.
The Beechcraft 390 aircraft was carrying
seven people, killing five members of The Vein Guys, a vein specialist group
that made frequent flights to and from Nashville.
"I've
seen jets like that whether it was the same company or the same people several
times, you know once or twice a week," said Reese.
Reese lives just minutes from the
airport and says they are used to the sound of jets flying over their home but
he said Wednesday night was different.
"Usually we can here jets and twin
engine planes take off and land. We didn't hear a roar of a jet engine or
anything like that, we just experienced the power outage and then the next
thing you know a big boom," said Reese.
Reese said it crashed without almost any
warning. He and his family have lived there
for nearly thirty years and said they are still unsure about what kind of
distress signs to look for.
"When they fly over the house real
low, it makes you wonder, is this normal or is it a heavy load?" said
Reese.
Now the only heavy load in his site is
an unfortunate reality. Crews picking up pieces of wreckage in the distance is
a painful reminder of lives lost and lives forever changed.
The NTSB confirmed today that they are
now in the process of cleaning up the site and transporting the wreckage
remains to a secure location in Georgia.
