Local family pleading for public's help in locating missing man

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A local family is looking for their loved one nearly three weeks after his disappearance.

West Springfield's Shawn Dunson has been missing since he left a bar in Springfield on Super Bowl Sunday.

"What would you do? We are literally begging and reaching out," said Dunson's sister, Barbara Wells.

"If anyone has any information, please call," said Dunson's brother, Malik Andrade.

As each day passes with no sign of their brother, Andrade and Wells get more desperate to find out where he is.

"We have been very diligent and out early in the morning to late at night just looking for him," Andrade said.

The only lead Dunson's family has so far is a few seconds of surveillance footage of him walking down Main Street near State Street that night.

When Dunson didn't show up for work as a cook at Big Mamou's the Monday after the Super Bowl, his mom, Linda Andrade knew something was very wrong.

"This is so much out of his character, this is not him at all, not to contact one of us," she said.

Since that day, the family has set out on foot most days, searching long into the night at Riverfront Park, near where Dunson was last seen, even following railroad tracks through the woods for any sign of him.

The family has also been putting up flyers in businesses up and down Main Street, hoping someone saw something that can help in their search.

"He has a family here that misses and loves him, our efforts are really not going to stop," Malik Andrade said.

Dunson has two 7-year-old twin daughters at home that he would normally talk to daily.

"He's a huge family man, working man, a great man, a happy-go-lucky guy," Wells said.

Friday will mark 20 days since any trace of Dunson.

But this family says their search has only just begun.

"We are a very, very close family, and when something's wrong with one of us, we are always there," Wells said.

Dunson is around 5'10" tall and around 150 pounds.

If you have any information, you are urged to contact Springfield police.

The family has also created a Facebook page.
