AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -
Richmond County Deputies never go anywhere without
their bullet proof vests and now they want the same protection for their dogs.
The Richmond County Sheriff's Office
wants to raise money for their K-9 unit, enough to provide bullet proof vests
for ten dogs.
The non- profit organization
"Project Paws Alive" kicked off fundraising this week.
The director told FOX54 the dogs
can sometimes face more risks than their handlers.
"You know often times they
are sent into situations that their human partners are not and you know
unfortunately, they are wounded if not stately injured," said Director
Cheryl Allen, Project Paws Alive.
Deputies hope to raise nearly
$10,000.
