Incredible video shows firefighter's front-line battle

Posted: Updated:

(WMC-TV) – A Corinth, Mississippi firefighter put a camera on his helmet and is now providing a firsthand look at what it is like to be on the front lines of a massive house fire.

It is something we rarely ever see: a house engulfed in flames, just seconds before Corinth firefighter Chris Duncan hears there is a man trapped inside.

"There's a chance something could go wrong but there's a life in there counting on you," Duncan said.

Behind 17 years of experience, Duncan was able to break the window. You can see flames and heavy smoke surround him as he looks for the victim.

You can hear Duncan yell before the man is quickly rushed out of the burning home.

"When you start out as a firefighter, that's every firefighter's dream to save somebody," he explained.

Duncan says before they arrived, the man had to help his small boy out of the window before passing out from the smoke.

The man is being treated at a burn center in Jackson, but Duncan says he's expected to recover.

"Luckily God was on our side and everything went the way it was supposed to go. We were very fortunate," Duncan said.

When the camera company saw Duncan's video, representatives sent three free cameras to the department to use for education.
