(Toledo News Now) -
On Monday, the Seneca County Drug Task
Force-METRICH Enforcement Unit, along with others, ended a 3-month investigation
with the seizure of a large amount of cocaine and the arrest of a Fostoria man.
Police arrested Charles Richardson, 35, in
the parking lot of a Tiffin establishment for trafficking cocaine. Charges of
possession of crack cocaine and possession of marijuana are pending the
conclusion of the investigation.
The arrest prompted execution of a search
warrant of Richardson's residence in Fostoria, where police found crack cocaine,
marijuana, and additional criminal tools. According to a press release from
police, the seizure of the drugs interrupted a cocaine distribution ring
throughout northwest Ohio.
The task force was assisted by OSHP, the Drug
Enforcement Agency Task Force, the Ohio Attorney General/Bureau of Criminal
Investigation and Identification, the Seneca County Sheriff's Office, and the
Fostoria and Tiffin police departments.
"The collaboration of agencies involved in
this entire investigation was instrumental in the success of this operation,"
said Det. Charles Boyer, unit coordinator.
Police encourage citizens to continue to
report suspicious activity to their local agencies or the Seneca County Drug
Task Force at 877-446-DRUG.
