(FOX19) -
Southbound I-75 heading into downtown was reopened after a fuel leak.
Dispatchers say 50-75 gallons of diesel fuel was spilled across four lanes of highway near the Ezzard Charles exit. It happened just before 5 p.m.
Authorities say a broken drive shaft on a semi-truck caused the fuel tank to rupture, resulting in the spill.
The semi-truck was stopped in the center lane for nearly two hours until a tow truck arrived to remove it.
Southbound 75 was closed between Western Avenue and Gest Street for nearly 4 hours as crews worked to clean up the scene.
