Tucson schools target 'confession' pages

Posted: Updated:
TUCSON, AZ (AP) -

Tucson Unified School District officials are expressing concern about -- and taking action against -- so-called "confession" pages that have sprung up on Facebook for several of the district's high schools.

According to the Arizona Daily Star, the pages allow students to post anonymously.

The newspaper reports that many of the postings involving anti-gay remarks and sexually explicit comments about individual students.

Tucson High's principal contacted Facebook to have a page for that school shut down, and another school's principal planned to do the same.

Assistant Superintendent Abel Morado says it's a serious matter because reputations are at stake and it's hard for people to defend themselves.

Morado says the district will work with high school principals on a coordinate response.
