CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
You
could soon pay more to watch your favorite sports teams in person or even go to
the movies.
Ohio Governor John Kasich is proposing a new tax in his two-year
$63.3 billion budget. Admission ticket prices at entertainment venues as
well as some consumer services would all fall under the new law.
Would
this help or hurt small businesses?
"Dog services are already very
expensive. So, to add another tax on top of that?" asked Clifton dog
groomer, Megan Prather. "I think it would be a struggle for people."
The trade-off in the governor's
budget is a double digit decrease in state income taxes.
"I think the
people when they take a look at their income tax, the additional tax that you
would be paying to the small business, I think actually, it would be better for
everybody to have this come off the income tax instead, " said Laurie
Strunk of Cincinnati.
State lawmakers in Columbus would
have to approve the budget before it went into effect.
