Severe Weather Awareness Week in Georgia

Posted: Updated:
AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Are you prepared in case of severe weather?

That's the question the state of Georgia would like you to ask yourself.

The first week of February is Severe Weather Awareness Week in Georgia, and the week starts Monday with Preparedness Day.

Columbia County EMA Director Pam Tucker says it's a great chance to make sure you and your family are ready for the weather's worst.

"Imagine that you don't have any power. Imagine that roads are out, so you can't drive. You're pretty much isolated," Tucker says. "What are all the things that you need?"

Tucker suggests putting together a preparedness kit of essentials that will last three days for each member of your family.

To learn what to put in that kit, and more information on Severe Weather Awareness Week, go to http://www.columbiacountyga.gov/index.aspx?page=2428.
