PHOENIX (CBS5) -

It's been nearly three months and investigators still don't know all the details about how a dangerous inmate escaped from the Lower Buckeye Jail.

According to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office, Adan Orduno removed several screws from the welded metal ceiling tiles and used a homemade rope to hoist himself out of his cell.

Then it's believed he made his way to the roof, over a razor wire fence and walked to freedom.

As for the exact details investigators can only speculate because the cameras in that part of the jail weren't working.

Here are the facts: Orduno's cell was in the maximum security jail's psychiatric ward and on Nov. 11 at 9:30 a.m., deputies discovered the inmate wasn't in his cell.

Investigators said they found a decoy in his bed that was made of jail-issued striped pants stuffed with milk cartons.

According to the report, investigators found a homemade knife and a black pipe in the ceiling, as well as a shank by a fence outside.

The report stated there was no evidence Orduno was ever on the roof. But if he was, ladders left behind by construction workers would have made it easy for him to get around.

Deputies captured Orduno about 24 hours after his escape in a parking lot near 7th Street and McDowell Road.

He had a dislocated ankle he said he got from falling off the jail's roof.

During questioning, Orduno spent most of the time rambling. He claimed detectives were trying to poison his food. He also said God led him through his escape.

Orduno remains in jail for escape and previous charges of attempted murder of a police officer, kidnapping and armed robbery.

CBS 5 News reached out to MCSO to see if cameras are working now and if any other security changes were made after the escape. At this point, CBS 5 News has not heard back.
