Saginaw Police investigate shooting near church

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

WNEM TV5 has learned Saginaw Police are investigating a Monday afternoon shooting that took place near a church.

The shots rang out on Saginaw's east side, near S. 17th Street and Berkeley Court, around the corner from Harvest Assembly of God church. That's not far from Heavenrich Elementary School.

Around 1:30 p.m., police said a young man in his early 20s was walking down the street when a vehicle came by and fired four or five shots, hitting the man in his pelvis. Authorities said his injuries are non-life threatening and he was taken to an area hospital.
