GREEN, OH (WOIO) -
A 28-year-old Struthers man charged after a series of thefts from vehicles in the city of Green.
The Summit County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to Green in regards to thefts from vehicles Saturday around 7:30 p.m. At least six vehicles had been broken into over the past two days.
When the deputy arrived, he noticed a man carrying a black backpack near the woods on Koons Road. When the man was confronted by the deputy, he fled into the woods. The deputy pursued on foot. The suspect was located after an approximate 2 ½ mile foot pursuit.
The suspect was identified as Timothy Hicks, Jr. Hicks was in possession of stolen property from the vehicle thefts. He was charged with Theft and Obstructing Official Business. He was transported to the Summit County Jail.
It was determined that Hicks was absent without leave (AWOL) from the RIP Program at the Oriana House. He was also a suspect in numerous burglaries in the City of Green. Future charges are pending the outcome of the investigation
