SHELBY COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

"Toomer's for Tuscaloosa" is pitching in to help tornado victims in Georgia.

The non-profit is collecting donations at the Wal-Mart on Highway 280 in Shelby County until 9 p.m. Friday. They're look for non-perishable food and supplies such as trash bags and flashlights.

Tomorrow, the group will deliver it to Adairsville, Georgia which was hit hard by tornadoes.

"While we're there, we're going to get an assessment from the principal about the needs. Then we'll come back and we'll be posting those individual families on Facebook for adoption. That way people can help and ship things directly to the school," Holly Hart Shirley with Toomer's for Tuscaloosa said.

Toomer's for Tuscaloosa" says some 500 homes were damaged in the Adairsville area.
