DPS: Man killed in Rusk Co. collision identified

RUSK COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

DPS has confirmed that one person has died in a two-vehicle collision on Highway 322 at County Road 2121 in Rusk County around 6:30 Friday morning.

According to Trooper Jean Dark a late 1990's model Chevy truck, driven by 19-year-old Brandon Whitehorn of Henderson, was southbound on 322 when he crossed lanes, went off the road, and then pulled back onto the roadway in the wrong lane.

Whitehorn's truck collided with a truck driven by Pat Newton, also of Henderson. Whitehorn and Newton were both taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center in Longview.

Newton's passenger, Jonathan Darwin Robertson, 25,  also of Henderson, was killed in the accident.

Area motorists reported that the highway was shut down while the wreck was cleared.

The accident is still under investigation.
