CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

The Cleveland Fire Department was called to the West Side Market at 2:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Crews found a fire in one of the food stands inside the historic building, located at W. 25th and Lorain Avenue.

The Sebastian Meat stand, a long time market vendor is the place where investigators think the fire may have started.

"It does have the most damage but like I said right now its under investigation" said Brent Collins, Assistant Fire Chief.

The Fosters Meat stand right next to Sebastian's also has a lot of damage.

The heat from the blaze shattered most of the glass counters around Sebastian's.  There's a lot of damage while firefighters were able to contain the flames from spreading, other vendors have smoke damage.  Some also have water damage.

Business vendors like the West Side Market Cafe have smoke and soot damage. However it is expected to open sooner than the rest of the market. It has it's own off street entrance and is already cleaning up.

"The Health Department will give final clearance as to whether or not everything has been satisfactorily performed", said Karen Butler Director of Public Health.

"It appears accidental," said Collins.

Fire investigators are trying to determine the exact cause.  No injuries were reported.

The West Side Market was closed Wednesday.  The Health Department is expected to examine food at all the stands and determine if it is suitable for consumption.
