WAYNESBORO, GA (WFXG) -

One man is dead after an assisted living home in Waynesboro caught fire early Saturday morning.

Investigators with the State Insurance and Fire Commissioner's Office say 65 year old Charles Atkins was killed when the Twin Oaks Assistant Living Home on the 740 block of Old Millen Hwy went up in flames around 4:30 a.m.

Six other people were inside the home at the time of the fire, but escaped without injury. The home was destroyed.

Investigators haven't determined an exact cause of the fire, but they believe an improperly disposed cigarette is a possibility.
