I-75 morning rush plagued by backups, multiple accidents

SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

The snowfall blowing into Mid-Michigan caused tricky travel conditions for morning commuters across the Tri-Cities.

Conditions in Genesee County were not as bad as they were Thursday, but officials did respond to multiple accidents in that area.  I-69 in Genesee County was treacherous for travel on Thursday and the thoroughfare was also the scene of multiple crashes on Friday.

From 9:47 a.m. to 10:16 a.m., police responded to six accidents, including a crash on southbound I-75 at the entrance ramp to Dort Highway in Grand Blanc Township.

From 10:43 a.m. to 11 a.m., police responded to four accidents, including a wreck on northbound I-75 at Corunna Road.

From 11:05 a.m. to 11:26 a.m., Police responded to five accidents, including a car/truck fire on eastbound I-69 and Bristol Road in Flint Township.

In the Tri-Cities, at least 32 accidents were reported since 6 a.m.  Officials were also on the scene of accidents in the area of U.S. 10 and Business 10 in Midland. One accident reportedly shut down one lane of traffic on U.S. 10 near Midland, but that accident scene has since been cleared.

Slippery conditions were also reported on I-75 Friday morning. Back-ups along I-75 were reported in multiple areas due to crashes. An accident was reported on the southbound lanes of I-675 in Saginaw County.  It was believed that one lane of traffic was closed, leaving just one lane open.  The situation has been cleared up and I-675 is completely back open.

Also in Bay County, police were on the scene of an accident in the area of Mackinaw Road and Hotchkiss Road.
