GLOBE, AZ (CBS5) -

A missing man's vehicle has been discovered at the bottom of an Arizona canyon, but he was nowhere to be found and officials now believe foul play is involved.

Gila County Sheriff's investigators said they determined 50-year-old David Fink was not in the vehicle when it slid down the embankment in the Salt River Canyon area at milepost 297.8 sometime between Jan. 13 and Jan. 20.

Blood was discovered in the front compartment of the vehicle, but Fink was not inside the car or in the surrounding area, investigators said.

Fink should have some sort of head and/or facial trauma based on damage seen in the driver's side windshield, sheriff's deputies said.

The last time anyone heard from Fink was on Jan. 13 when he called his brother in Las Vegas and told him he was leaving the Phoenix area, the sheriff's office said. Fink added he was going to travel through Globe to take care of an errand and then drive straight to Las Vegas.

On Monday, Fink's brother reported him overdue.

Fink is described as 6'4" tall, 190 pounds with brown hair and green eyes. He was driving a black Volvo four-door sedan with California plates.

Anyone with knowledge of Fink's whereabouts is asked to call the Gila County Sheriff's Office at 928-425-4449.
