Light snowfall coats Mid-Michigan on Friday

Posted: Updated:
SAGINAW, MI (WNEM) -

A low pressure system brought light snow to Mid-Michigan as the work week wraps up.

TV5 meteorologist Lauren Fahrenkrug said the system moved in late Thursday night and will last through Friday before tapering off Friday night.

Most areas will see 1-3 inches of accumulations, and locally higher amounts of snow are possible. Temperatures will remain cold and in the low 20s.

With a south wind between 5-15 mph, expect to have blowing and drifting snow. Friday morning's commute was tricky for some as the light coating of snow made roads slick. Visibility will be limited at times in certain areas due to the snowfall.

Outside of a passing light flurry, relatively dry and seasonable conditions are expected through the weekend. Next week a warming trend will bring mild temps by Tuesday, with normal January temperatures returning to Mid-Michigan on Wednesday.
