Sandy Hook Advisory Commission to hold first meeting

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Gov. Dannel Malloy announced that the Sandy Hook Advisory Commission will hold its first meeting Thursday.

The status of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting investigation will be discussed, and members of the commission will hear from experts directly involved in the aftermath of the mass shootings at Columbine High School and Virginia Tech.

Malloy is expected to speak at the meeting and will charge the members with their objectives followed by the review of the status of the shooting investigation.

After that, the panel will hear separate presentations from former Colorado Gov. Bill Ritter and University of Virginia School of Law professor Richard Bonnie, who will talk about how their states reacted to the mass shootings in their states.

The meeting is expected to begin around 10:30 a.m. in the Legislative Office Building in Hartford.

If residents cannot attend the meeting, a website has been set up for people to submit their testimony. People can email asaferconnecticut@cga.ct.gov.
