Bellevue library construction expected by spring

Posted: Updated:
NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

It's been a struggle for years, and now it's time for construction of the Nashville Public Library's new Bellevue branch to get under way.

The new 25,000-square-foot building is set to be five times the size of the existing branch and will be built on the grounds of Bellevue Middle School near Baugh Road and Colice Jeanne Road.

Officials say it will take three to four months to select a design and contract team, and they expect to break ground this spring.

"Libraries are a really valuable resource to communities such as Bellevue, because we offer everything from classes to technology training to free programs and events. And we just really continue to diversify as the needs of our community continues to change," said library spokeswoman Renuka Christoph.

The new facility will be environmentally friendly and feature new spaces for the whole family to enjoy.
