SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

A Springfield man made it easy for police to catch him during a foot chase by leaving his flashlight on.

Springfield Police say they responded to the burglar alarm at a grocery store on Avocado Street.

When they arrived on scene, they saw Miguel Rivera fleeing the area.

While running, Rivera left his flashlight on which allowed police to follow the light - along with his clothes as he stripped while running towards the Connecticut River.

The suspect surrendered to police at the river bank and was arrested.
