CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

Cleveland's so-called sexting cop has been fired.  Detective Vincent Lucarelli, the target of lengthy investigations by Carl Monday and Police Internal Affairs, got his walking papers at 11:30 a. m. Friday.

Monday uncovered more than 30,000 text messages exchanged between Lucarelli, suspects and victims involved in crimes which he was investigating.  Many of the texts were sexual in nature.

Safety Director Marty Flask said Lucarellli violated the public trust, and that his actions were "so far out of the realm of what's acceptable behavior for a Cleveland Police Officer."
