WNEM TV5 is learning more about the man who police say abducted, raped and led police on a chase before being shot and killed on Wednesday night.

According to the Michigan Department of Corrections, Eric Lee Ramsey, 30, exhibited no signs of trouble during his time in prison or while out on parole.

In June 2012, Ramsey was released from prison after serving a five year sentence for crimes he committed including assault with the intent to do great bodily harm, which carries a maximum sentence of 15 years and a minimum sentence of five years.

According to MDOC, Ramsey was released from prison under the condition that he complete boot camp near Ann Arbor.

Ramsey had his tether removed on Nov. 9, according to law enforcement officials.

Since having the tracking device removed, Ramsey was required to report twice a month to his parole officer an undergo alcohol and drug test.

A Michigan Department of Corrections spokesperson said that Ramsey's behavior was consistently "good" while in prison and while out on parole. That spokesperson said in past cases where a parolee went on a crime spree, usually there would be signs, such as not showing up to meet with a parole officer or quitting a job.

Isabella County Sheriff Leo Mioduszewski said that his investigation is still under way to determine a possible motive.

Yesterday, TV5 found a Facebook page belonging to Ramsey and on it he posted via mobile phone, "Well folkes im about to get shot. Peace." According to information on that page, Ramsey was from Shepherd and had a young son.

Late Thursday afternoon, TV5 learned that the gun Ramsey was carrying during the ordeal was really a BB-gun.
