Security cameras to be installed at Newtown schools

NEWTOWN, CT (WFSB) -

Plans are under way to make sure schools in Newtown are safer.

On Thursday night, the board of education approved more than 24 new school security cameras that were donated by a business called Advanced Security Technologies.

The owner said that if all goes according to plan, 30 news state-of-the-art security cameras will be installed at all Newtown schools by the end of next week.

A keyless entry system will also be installed at the new Sandy Hook Elementary School in Monroe.
