Sir Elton John coming to Montgomery's Garrett Coliseum

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Music icon Sir Elton John is coming to Alabama for two performances in March, his website tour section and Montgomery officials confirmed Thursday.

The musician's website has the dates and locations on his upcoming tour schedule.

The multi-decade, chart-topping music star will make a stop in Birmingham on March 15, 2013 where he's set to perform at the Birmingham Jefferson Civic Complex.

He'll return to the state a week later on Friday, March 22 when he'll perform again at Montgomery's Garrett Coliseum.

Tickets for the Montgomery concert will go on sale January 26 starting at 10:00am. Prices range from $29, $79 and $139 and will be available at Ticketmaster.com or the Garrett Coliseum box office. There's a limit of 8 tickets per customer.

The Montgomery concert is scheduled to start at 8:00pm, and will feature number one chart hits and classic album tracks throughout the artist's 5-decade career.

Elton John is one of the top-selling solo artists of all time and holds 35 gold and 25 platinum albums. He's had 29 consecutive Top 40 hits, and boasts sales records of more than 250 million albums worldwide. 

Since his career started in 1969, the "Rocketman" has performed at nearly 3,000 concerts spanning the globe. Some of his most famous hits include Your Song", "Rocket Man", Bennie and the Jets", "Philadelphia Freedom", "Crocodile Rock" and "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me." He holds the record for the biggest selling single of all time when 37 million copies of "Candle in the Wind '97" was released in honor of the late Princess Diana.

The last time the singer was in Montgomery was when he performed at Garrett Coliseum in 2000.
