We are now learning the that the driver of the car that crashed into an Aiken Verizon store has been taken to the hospital.

Identified as a female driver in a Chevrolet vehicle, she was taken to Aiken Regional with unknown injuries.

We're told she won't face any charges in the incident, and that the incident was accidental.

Investigators tell us that 12 workers and 12 customers were in the store at the time of the crash.

Verizon spokeswoman Kate Jay said, "the safety of our employees and customers is of the utmost importance, and we are fully cooperating with authorities."

Aiken Public Safety confirms a car has crashed into the Verizon Wireless store on S. Aiken Ln., near Pine Log and Whiskey Rds.

Dispatch says the call came in at 12:49 this afternoon.

Police, fire, and EMS crews are on the scene.

The driver of the car is being taken to the hospital with unknown, but not serious injuries.
