Homeless man accused in rape of teenager

LORAIN, OH (WOIO) -

 

Police say a 36-year-old homeless man, is under arrest for raping an 18-year-old woman. The victim was on her way home from the library, when she was kidnapped at gunpoint, dragged to a vacant home and sexually assaulted.

The attack happened around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 10 in the 1100 block of Long Avenue.

Lorain Police say Joseph Worthy was arrested over the weekend at a homeless shelter. He is now being held in the Lorain County jail.

Officers also say the victim and the suspect did not know each other.
