5,400 coats. That's how many were handed out this winter thanks to the generosity of KSLA News 12 viewers.
During the annual KSLA News 12-Porter's Cleaners Coats for Kids drive, used and new coats are collected. Porter's cleans the used coats and Goodwill Industries helps to distribute them. This past Saturday was distribution day. But coats are also handed out to cold children weeks before through area schools.
It's amazing how fast kids grow out of their coats. And that's why we do the Coats for Kids drive every year. Not only does it help to protect a child from the chilly conditions, it's a way for you to recycle your unused coats and put them to good use. We'll do it again next winter.
Thanks again for your help.
I'm James Smith.
